Madison Watch Company is a "new kid" on the watch brand "block". It started as a passion and a dream of a young Denver watch enthusiast, watch collector - turned watchmaker, Frank Kusumoto. It maybe hard to call his operation a company yet, but Frank devotes all his free time and effort in developing new models, refining the movements and living his Horological dream. Frank would often come to our shop and discuss his new ideas, borrow or use our watchmaking equipment, or just to pick a brain of our master watchmakers.
"I am a retired military officer and computer programmer by profession, but watchmaking has become a full time pursuit," explains Kusumoto. "I`ve always been interested in watches and precision time keeping devices. We relied on them heavily in the military during operations and exercises."
The brand`s first successful launch had only two models with flieger dial and based on an old faithful ETA/Unitas 6497/8 hand wound movements, but hand engraved, finished and polished by Frank. In plans are 2 new models that watch enthusiasts already anxiously awaiting, because prices are phenomenal and quantities are, as always, very limited.
The name of the watch brand "Madison Watch Co." is an homage to the early American watch companies such as Elgin, Waltham, Ball, Illinois and Hamilton. James Madison was the fourth president of the United States and is often referred to as "The father of the Constitution." During Madisons` presidency the war of 1812 was fought ending with the stunning victory in New Orleans by General Andrew Jackson. The victory brought the Union together and cemented the national pride of the young republic.
